When the operatory's air change rate is unknown, published dental guidance treats settle time as about 120 minutes. In a mechanically ventilated operatory with a known air change rate, that window can drop to roughly 30 minutes. The variable is the room, not the procedure.
How long after a dental procedure is it safe to clean the room?
Surface contamination is largely complete within the first 10 minutes after the handpiece stops, so the surfaces are ready long before the air is. The waiting period protects the person entering the room, not the quality of the clean. Follow your practice's fallow protocol, then clean.
Does electrostatic spraying replace wiping in a dental operatory?
No. Electrostatic application does not remove soil, and disinfectant applied over organic debris is disinfecting the debris. Mechanical removal with color-coded microfiber comes first.
